The process of making silicone rubber mold

What's RTV silicone rubber? Two component liquid silicone rubber, fast cross-linking, non-toxic and without shelf life. Has elevated mechanical and elastic characteristics, as well as resistance to high temperatures. For this reason it is suitable for the preparation of moulds for all types of application for the relief of profiles, for repair of damaged artefacts (relief print), including successive castings of materials at high temperature. The applications range from engineering items, artistic application, scenography, to construction, etc. The standard prodcut is suppplied with 10 min pot life at 23° C and 30 Shore. Mixing mold rubber part A with part B,Use a stiff mixing paddle and employ a firm wrist, making sure that you scrape the sides and bottom of your mixing container several times. Important material hides on the bottom and sides of your mixing container and failure to get this material into the mix will result in the rubber not properly curing. The purpose of a mold box is to contain the liquid rubber (after it is poured over and around a model) until the liquid turns to a solid. A mold box does not have to be a complex structure -depending on the size and configuration of your model, often a coffee can, cake pan or plastic bucket will suffice. If you make molds of flat - two dimensional models on a regular basis and require a mold box there are a number of advantages in constructing your own mold box.
